The Property Council of Australia is the leading advocate for the Australian property in dustry. We are an integral business partner for our corporate members through the provision of advocacy, information, networking, communications and professional development services.
Due to business growth, an exciting new opening has arisen for a Policy Advisor to support our SA, ACT, Tasmanian and NT Divisions. You will work closely with the Executive Directors in each of these divisions and be part of our broader successful Advocacy team whose responsibility is to develop and advocate policy positions that promote and protect the interests of our members.
- Your specific responsibilities will include:
- Preparing public policy statements and policy submissions to state and local governments, incorporating strong member input;
- Assisting to communicate our advocacy wins to members and stakeholders in those divisions;
- Building strong relationships with key ministerial advisors and bureaucrats at the local and state level;
- Proactively assisting Executive Directors or Business Managers in each location to identify and design policy-related seminars and events and source speakers;
- Being familiar with research relating to your policy areas
This role will suit someone who has had 2-3+ years experience, gained within Government or another industry association and is looking to further develop their advocacy career.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a demonstrated understanding of the political process. You will have exceptional writing skills and be an outstanding communicator who is able to work with stakeholders at varying levels. You will also need to be willing to travel, have strong research and analytical skills and the self-motivation to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines. Relevant tertiary qualifications in politics, planning, architecture, law, or economics are also required.
