As a result of an internal promotion, an opportunity now exists for a seasoned safety health and environment professional to join our corporate team in Edinburgh Parks, South Australia. In this key role, you\'ll report to the Australian Head of Safety, Health and Environment and assume responsibility for providing safety, health and environment technical expertise, an effective national safety, health and environment management system design and best practice assurance programs across the country. In more specific terms, you\'ll:
• Establish effective systems to ensure safety, health and environment legislation and corporate BAE Systems requirements are complied with nationally
• Engage and maintain relationships to facilitate the integration of safety, health and environment management systems of legacy BAE Systems Australia and those existing through acquisitions to develop a national set of core processes
• Influence the strategic direction of the safety, health and environment management system by benchmarking and identifying and mitigating national risks
• Identify opportunities for national safety, health and environment improvements and prepare business cases to realise opportunities as required
• Develop close working relationships with business unit based human resources managers and safety, health and environment teams to facilitate the effective implementation and maintenance of business and site continuous improvement plans
• Manage the national safety, health and environment assurance process
• Manage and enhance the OHSAS18001/AS4801 implementation plan and manage the internal compliance auditing program
• Provide leadership, communication and development for a small team of safety, health and environment personnel in the central team
• Review business unit monthly reports and consolidate data inputs for reports whilst also compiling, interpreting, trending and reporting on national safety, health and environment data
As our ideal applicant, you\'ll come equipped with a degree or equivalent qualification in a safety, health and environment related discipline coupled with a lead auditor and specific AS4801/OHSAS18001 qualification. We also seek extensive knowledge, understanding and expertise in safety, health and environment best practice and continuous improvement approaches along with relevant experience gained in a large multi-site (or similar) business. Strong leadership, influencing and customer liaison skills are also required as is the ability to drive organisational/cultural change. Whilst not essential, a Return to Work Coordinator certificate and/or Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment will be well regarded.
